Poetic Thoughts 02.09.2012 Gravity I was listening to “Gravity” by John Mayer today while waiting at the shuttle stop and it got me thinking. It’s a great song, you really should listen to me, but today it inspired me to write a bit of poetry. I hope you enjoy it, I mean it’s pretty rough since I just wrote it and then posted it up here, but please read and enjoy. Is working hard To bring me down today Making all my leaps of faith Fall short Trapping me where I stand Making my legs heavy And my head hang low Instead of diving for the stars I’m falling on cement This grey pavement is my the payment For flying too close to the sun To soar is only a leap away Yet gravity keeps me grounded And the clouds just out of reach Though it takes effort I point my eyes to the skies It’s lush fields of white Amid ocean blues Unmappable in its ever changing face Fierce in its untamable spirit Yet it’s breeze caressed my check like a lover Gravity is the villain Restricting me from her Like the tether to the ball I stretch my boundary Tension my natural state Building Reaching Climbing Until Like the clap of thunder Gravity itself slips up And snaps And I’m free to roam the clouds As more than a bird But as a gust of wind Going and blowing where I please I long for the day to be free Of the shackle that is gravity Holding me hostage against Mother Earth Until I reach the skies where I’ll find rebirth.

Gravity
I was listening to “Gravity” by John Mayer today while waiting at the shuttle stop and it got me thinking. It’s a great song, you really should listen to me, but today it inspired me to write a bit of poetry. I hope you enjoy it, I mean it’s pretty rough since I just wrote it and then posted it up here, but please read and enjoy.

Is working hard
To bring me down today
Making all my leaps of faith
Fall short
Trapping me where I stand
Making my legs heavy
And my head hang low

Instead of diving for the stars
I’m falling on cement
This grey pavement is my the payment
For flying too close to the sun
To soar is only a leap away
Yet gravity keeps me grounded
And the clouds just out of reach

Though it takes effort
I point my eyes to the skies
It’s lush fields of white
Amid ocean blues
Unmappable in its ever changing face
Fierce in its untamable spirit
Yet it’s breeze caressed my check like a lover

Gravity is the villain
Restricting me from her
Like the tether to the ball
I stretch my boundary
Tension my natural state
Building
Reaching
Climbing
Until
Like the clap of thunder
Gravity itself slips up
And snaps
And I’m free to roam the clouds
As more than a bird
But as a gust of wind
Going and blowing where I please

I long for the day to be free
Of the shackle that is gravity
Holding me hostage against Mother Earth
Until I reach the skies where I’ll find rebirth.

Poetic Thoughts 02.02.2012 So I woke up this morning to foggy skies. We all hate them, and you can really see how much people hate them by standing in line for a shuttle out in the cold. That’s where I was this morning, standing there, looking at all the blank faces trying to imagine themselves anywhere but where they were at the moment. All these sad faces all cuz of a foggy sky, and the thought dawned on me, why can’t we enjoy a white, cloud covered sky? So in true poetry fashion, I decided to try and write a poem for a foggy sky. Here’s what I got, enjoy. To live To breathe To see See the morning clouds After a nights rain Hanging above our heads Like a cotton blanket Covering the sun From our cold stares at the sky We gaze upwards Wishing for the grey to disappear Without giving the clouds a chance Blotting out our beloved sun When it’s only wish Is to see a smile Has anyone ever given a foggy sky a smile? Today I’ll take my foggy sky It’s white blank exterior Like a cotton blanket over the sun Shielding it from the many cold stares Which surround me Looking up in distain At a sky That was never given a chance Or a single glance To bask the world is its own beauty Cast out of the image of a good day Left to represent sadness I’ll take my foggy sky today The sun deceives anyway Shining it’s light on a few Irritating the skin And the soul With unbearable heat Covering the world in yellow Filtering my sight I’ll take my foggy sky today Portraying the world In shades of grey and white Giving everything equal beauty Under its directionless rays While making the truly glorious Stand out against the milky white sky Let the sun shine tomorrow And the the foggy sky stay So I can make a good day out of today

To live
To breathe
To see
See the morning clouds
After a nights rain
Hanging above our heads
Like a cotton blanket
Covering the sun
From our cold stares at the sky

We gaze upwards
Wishing for the grey to disappear
Without giving the clouds a chance
Blotting out our beloved sun
When it’s only wish
Is to see a smile
Has anyone ever given a foggy sky a smile?

Today I’ll take my foggy sky
It’s white blank exterior
Like a cotton blanket over the sun
Shielding it from the many cold stares
Which surround me
Looking up in distain
At a sky
That was never given a chance
Or a single glance
To bask the world is its own beauty
Cast out of the image of a good day
Left to represent sadness

I’ll take my foggy sky today
The sun deceives anyway
Shining it’s light on a few
Irritating the skin
And the soul
With unbearable heat
Covering the world in yellow
Filtering my sight

I’ll take my foggy sky today
Portraying the world
In shades of grey and white
Giving everything equal beauty
Under its directionless rays
While making the truly glorious
Stand out against the milky white sky

Let the sun shine tomorrow
And the the foggy sky stay
So I can make a good day out of today

Poetic Thoughts 01.28.2012 Here’s another poem I kinda wrote really fast one morning after having a little bit of a nightmare, hope you like it, or ya know, not, feel free to hate too I guess haha Fear I am scared Scared of the winds breath Of the futures hand Of losing myself to nothing And not knowing my own reflection I look at the heavens wishing to see more But the deep pool of black Won’t even reflect my pleading face I am scared Scared of my dreams The pearls shining In the shadows of my thoughts I lay awake at night Refusing my eyes closure And my mind dreams, For what is worse than A dream that never came true? I am scared Scared of that which I could lose All my emotions and feelings Bundled up in flesh and given names Like friend, love, and brother Given the chance to run free And leave me behind I am scared For my path is unclear to me And tho I try to walk it I feel like a blindfolded man trying to walk the line Am I moving forward? Or am I just circling time? Fear grips my stomach Infests my mind And uses my imagination against me Making my biggest fear Myself

Here’s another poem I kinda wrote really fast one morning after having a little bit of a nightmare, hope you like it, or ya know, not, feel free to hate too I guess haha

Fear
I am scared
Scared of the winds breath
Of the futures hand
Of losing myself to nothing
And not knowing my own reflection
I look at the heavens wishing to see more
But the deep pool of black
Won’t even reflect my pleading face

I am scared
Scared of my dreams
The pearls shining
In the shadows of my thoughts
I lay awake at night
Refusing my eyes closure
And my mind dreams,
For what is worse than
A dream that never came true?

I am scared
Scared of that which I could lose
All my emotions and feelings
Bundled up in flesh and given names
Like friend, love, and brother
Given the chance to run free
And leave me behind

I am scared
For my path is unclear to me
And tho I try to walk it
I feel like a blindfolded man trying to walk the line
Am I moving forward?
Or am I just circling time?

Fear grips my stomach
Infests my mind
And uses my imagination against me
Making my biggest fear
Myself

Poetic Thoughts 02.01.2012 I was listening to one of my favorite songs at the moment, and with the big V-Day coming up, it kinda spurred me into writing another poem, in honor of the day I love to hate. Haha hope you enjoy. Valentines Day Just For Today Excuse me miss but I must insist This view of you by yourself Is SO amiss On a day meant for two It must be taboo For no flowers to be given to you I’m not trying to sway you Or lay you Or play you Or dismay you But I came by to say to you That your day doesn’t have to be like this Cool blank glares say you don’t care While eyes tell me your lies As you sit alone Amongst your glancing stares At the hated love which surrounds you An empty chair and a downwards stare Tells me that we Are the dancers left seated on the side Watching others enjoy the music While its disapointment we hide So let’s bury our sorrows in a lie Hide our frustrating loneliness In the soft comforting sighs Of the conversations And meditations On life and love That our misfortunes Have deprived us of The missing brush we needed To paint the town red The empty chair across from us That said all that was unsaid We could flip it all on its head With a few simple words That, for tonight Could be the one truth we said Would you mind if I told you I loved you Just for tonight? Amongst the love songs, Hollow meanings, And the things we do just to get along Would it mean anything less? For tonight I found someone as lonely as me And we, Brought together by what sets us apart… We could deceive them all Or just each other Finding the comfort we needed In the company of another We can curse love till midnight Lament over what we wish we could rewrite And maybe Just maybe We could find love Just for tonight

I was listening to one of my favorite songs at the moment, and with the big V-Day coming up, it kinda spurred me into writing another poem, in honor of the day I love to hate. Haha hope you enjoy.

Valentines Day Just For Today

Excuse me miss but I must insist
This view of you by yourself
Is SO amiss
On a day meant for two
It must be taboo
For no flowers to be given to you

I’m not trying to sway you
Or lay you
Or play you
Or dismay you
But I came by to say to you
That your day doesn’t have to be like this

Cool blank glares say you don’t care
While eyes tell me your lies
As you sit alone
Amongst your glancing stares
At the hated love which surrounds you
An empty chair and a downwards stare
Tells me that we
Are the dancers left seated on the side
Watching others enjoy the music
While its disapointment we hide

So let’s bury our sorrows in a lie
Hide our frustrating loneliness
In the soft comforting sighs
Of the conversations
And meditations
On life and love
That our misfortunes
Have deprived us of
The missing brush we needed
To paint the town red
The empty chair across from us
That said all that was unsaid
We could flip it all on its head
With a few simple words
That, for tonight
Could be the one truth we said

Would you mind if I told you I loved you
Just for tonight?
Amongst the love songs,
Hollow meanings,
And the things we do just to get along
Would it mean anything less?
For tonight I found someone as lonely as me
And we,
Brought together by what sets us apart…

We could deceive them all
Or just each other
Finding the comfort we needed
In the company of another
We can curse love till midnight
Lament over what we wish we could rewrite
And maybe
Just maybe
We could find love
Just for tonight

Poetic Thoughts 01.15.2012 Here’s a random poem I kinda pieced together today.  I don’t really know what its about, I just kinda wrote it in one go without stopping.  Its definitely something interesting tho, so maybe you might find something in it. There were times when I’d reach to the heavens For one simple sliver of sky. I’d hold it in my hands with a wish And a prayer Hoping one would come true. I’d tell my dreams and nightmares While the Earth moved below me, And the sun setting before my eyes, In the pages of the universe Of the book unread. Words written on the wind, Never to be heard again. The language of my secrets and stories Locked away in the burrows of the world. With that sliver of sky in hand, I’d travel to the highest hill, Hoping to, but for a moment, Sample the nectar of existence, And solve the mystery of why. Like my secrets, I’d burry the sky in the Earth, The seed of tomorrow sprouting From my tales and truths, Bringing forth a new horizon And another chance at the day.

Poetic Thoughts 01.10.2012 I haven’t written in a while, kinda felt bad about it. I guess this poem has been giving me a little bit of writers block. I can’t really figure out how to finish it, so here it is. Don’t really feel like finishing it really. Kinda tough to follow up a bunch of alliteration like that hahaha. But yeah as you can see I’ve been trying to put jealousy into words. Here’s my attempt, enjoy. If imagination is a blessing Jealousy is its punishment The thoughts which once Slowly carved out the beauty of life Now bend my emotions Into the circles and squares That border the false assumptions Which hang in my minds eye Day after day I look upon my world Through the haze of half truths And hasty assumptions Jealousy killing me With my own special ability. A creative mind Creating creative ways To warp the reality I see before me. For a jealous mind Makes even the truth a poison And the bitter lies a comforting relief My imagination blurring the lines between The lies and the truth Like the many moments before The repetition Is the ammunition For my minds sad creation Of my worlds new condition. Jealousy is alliteration. A reproduction Perpetuation of my greatest fears be deconstruction Culmination of my imaginations orchestrations With the goal of elimination and extermination Of every single admiration All of my infatuations Every bit of appreciation All the good inclinations Every emotion with benediction Turning love into contradiction Of words like “I love you” not meaning their definition And the silence between two people becoming the exposition To the untrue revelation that all I am is an agitation An aggravation A cause for exasperation The reason for my alienation Depressions desperation To life

Creating creative ways

Every emotion with benediction
Turning love into contradiction
Of words like “I love you” not meaning their definition
And the silence between two people becoming the exposition
To the untrue revelation
that all I am is an agitation
An aggravation
A cause for exasperation
The reason for my alienation
Depressions desperation
To life

Poetic Thoughts 01.07.2012 Here’s a short poem I wrote at 3 in morning. I wanted to sleep but my mind just wouldn’t go so I thought a poetry session was in order. Don’t really know what I’m trying to say in this one to be honest, maybe someone else can make sense of it, but enjoy anyway… My life Is the pengelum Swinging between the extremes Of ever lasting love And all consuming hate If those two emotions Make up the ends What serenity Do I find in the middle? Upon sunsets brow Do I watch the sky Furrow it’s cloud covered head As it tries to calm itself Into sinking into the horizon Dreaming as we dream Of new days with new colors If we dream of skies Does the sky dream of us? Gazing down at us it’s stars in in it’s own midnight sky Ever changing constellations Of street lamps And headlights Anything to banish the darkness Does the sky see The bright yellow lines Drawing pathways To guide our way home Among the skies stars? Does the sky look up In wonder? Does it dream of the stars? Does the sky take comfort in us As I take comfort in it? Knowing that in all the chaos My small piece of serenity Lay above my head And in the stars Who stare back at me

My life
Is the pengelum
Swinging between the extremes
Of ever lasting love
And all consuming hate

If those two emotions
Make up the ends
What serenity
Do I find in the middle?

Upon sunsets brow
Do I watch the sky
Furrow it’s cloud covered head
As it tries to calm itself
Into sinking into the horizon
Dreaming as we dream
Of new days with new colors

If we dream of skies
Does the sky dream of us?
Gazing down at us
it’s stars in in it’s own
midnight sky
Ever changing constellations
Of street lamps
And headlights
Anything to banish the darkness

Does the sky see
The bright yellow lines
Drawing pathways
To guide our way home
Among the skies stars?

Does the sky look up
In wonder?
Does it dream of the stars?
Does the sky take comfort in us
As I take comfort in it?
Knowing that in all the chaos
My small piece of serenity
Lay above my head
And in the stars
Who stare back at me

Poetic Thoughts 01.05.2012 Love Is… Love is what makes poetry an amazing thing. Of all the emotions, it’s gotta be the one poets draw inspiration from the majority of the time. I don’t know about you, but I’ll never be tired of love poetry, especially when it comes to writing it, so here’s a little something I wrote on my phone: Love is… Love is Something so unbearable So completely indescribable All but inescapable A sickness that’s incurable And everyone’s susceptible A force that’s unstoppable A feeling unmistakable Completely unlock-able It’s even downloadable It’s musical, it’s lyrical It’s everyone’s favorite miracle It’s biblical, it’s radical Its why we are animals It shows we are comparable That we can be lovable And terrible It’s beautiful It’s unusual It’s everything that’s wonderful So complex it’s intellectual But every second is unforgettable Smooth and oh so sexual Sensual and spiritual More than hypothetical Every wish intentional Rare yet inevitable Even if it’s predictable It’s descriptions are plentiful Repetition is unintentional I hope my intent here is detectable Maybe I am a bit obsessional But this is my confessional It’s incredible It’s chemical It’s always sensible It may not be edible But who cares? Its love

Love is…
Love is
Something so unbearable
So completely indescribable
All but inescapable
A sickness that’s incurable
And everyone’s susceptible
A force that’s unstoppable
A feeling unmistakable
Completely unlock-able
It’s even downloadable
It’s musical, it’s lyrical
It’s everyone’s favorite miracle
It’s biblical, it’s radical
Its why we are animals
It shows we are comparable
That we can be lovable
And terrible
It’s beautiful
It’s unusual
It’s everything that’s wonderful
So complex it’s intellectual
But every second is unforgettable
Smooth and oh so sexual
Sensual and spiritual
More than hypothetical
Every wish intentional
Rare yet inevitable
Even if it’s predictable
It’s descriptions are plentiful
Repetition is unintentional
I hope my intent here is detectable
Maybe I am a bit obsessional
But this is my confessional
It’s incredible
It’s chemical
It’s always sensible
It may not be edible
But who cares?
Its love

Poetic thoughts on 12.27.2011 You know that feeling you get when your with someone you love being with, like it’s always something special when you get together and the highlight of your day, but then it dawns on you one day that maybe its only something you enjoy? Like they only do this because they know you’ll enjoy it? Like its tradition or like a favor to you, do they go through with it? It’s almost like you hinder them. I’ve been feeling that a lot lately to be honest. Like just the other day the thought kinda dawned on me that things didn’t feel like they should, like it was only me who was enjoying my time. Whatever it is tho I decided to write a poem about it, and here it is. I used to think I could drown in forever with you Drown in our time together In one another’s company Lose ourselves in the murals that were our lives The dark shadows Highlighting the bright whites Within our eyes I used to think we could spend our days in forever Enjoying the feeling Of finally conquering time And living all our lives in a single moment But things change And what I thought was once the world we shared Turned out to be my own fantasy And here I find myself Losing you And not knowing what to do How to say That it was within you That my fantasy Took shape And without you The world is coming down One cloud at a time Slowly spinning away Wrapping its cotton candy exterior Around a new stock And the blue sky Fading into the deep black Of rooms closed And lights turned off Closing time it seems Creeps into the fantasy While I watch idlely by Knowing that even the best shapes in the sky Eventually transform On the favor of the wind Into something Else

Within our eyes

I used to think we could spend our days in forever
Enjoying the feeling
Of finally conquering time
And living all our lives
in a single moment
But things change
And what I thought was once the world we shared
Turned out to be my own fantasy

And here I find myself
Losing you
And not knowing what to do
How to say
That it was within you
That my fantasy
Took shape
And without you
The world is coming down
One cloud at a time
Slowly spinning away
Wrapping its cotton candy exterior
Around a new stock
And the blue sky
Fading into the deep black
Of rooms closed
And lights turned off

Closing time it seems
Creeps into the fantasy
While I watch idlely by
Knowing that even the best shapes in the sky
Eventually transform
On the favor of the wind
Into something
Else

Poetic Thoughts 12.31.2011 (New Years Edition!) So I was sitting in my car today and I got the urge to do some writing. Just a little poetry to end the year I guess. I’m not really sure what to think of this poem, tho when it comes to a lot of the poetry I do, I don’t really think of it as anything amazing. The artist in me I guess lol. But happy new year everyone! As the world holds its breath Standing on the line Between old and new The future, it seems, Always looks its brightest While yesterday may have come To its dreary end Tomorrow holds all the questions It’s always held Of come what may And if it be today Little holds more hope Than the thought of tomorrow Hope of a shining sky And the world to breathe anew And as grey as today maybe The shine of tomorrow always remains It’s gold lining And and skies of dreams Draw us all, Today of all days, To look out on the great expanse That is tomorrow, And hope Hope and dream Of come what may For a new year is upon us And no matter The path behind us We look at the coming dawn With eyes so clear A careful observer could see The plans forming behind them So as the clock winds down And the now slowly disappears Into the before The unknowable tomorrow Has never looked so welcoming And the once fearsome twilight Becomes lit with the roars of cheers And the stary hopes That tomorrow shall be theirs

I’m not really sure what to think of this poem, tho when it comes to a lot of the poetry I do, I don’t really think of it as anything amazing. The artist in me I guess lol. But happy new year everyone!

As the world holds its breath
Standing on the line
Between old and new
The future, it seems,
Always looks its brightest
While yesterday may have come
To its dreary end
Tomorrow holds all the questions
It’s always held
Of come what may
And if it be today

Little holds more hope
Than the thought of tomorrow
Hope of a shining sky
And the world to breathe anew
And as grey as today maybe
The shine of tomorrow always remains
It’s gold lining
And and skies of dreams
Draw us all,
Today of all days,
To look out on the great expanse
That is tomorrow,
And hope

Hope and dream
Of come what may
For a new year is upon us
And no matter
The path behind us
We look at the coming dawn
With eyes so clear
A careful observer could see
The plans forming behind them

So as the clock winds down
And the now slowly disappears
Into the before
The unknowable tomorrow
Has never looked so welcoming
And the once fearsome twilight
Becomes lit with the roars of cheers
And the stary hopes
That tomorrow shall be theirs
