Goodbye Winter Break…

Winter break has always held a special place in my life.  For some odd reason, that short break we get at the end of the year to celebrate two of the coolest holidays of the year always somehow means more to me than other breaks we get, maybe even better than summer break.

As far as memories, Winter Break is just magical in how in kind of creeps up on you, jumps into your life, and reminds you of whats to come.  Christmas just brings out the best in people because it’s that time of giving, and then in that short week between Christmas and New Years you get this wave of “we need to do this before the year ends!” feelings, and people just brimming with ideas and ways for how the next year will be the greatest year they’ve ever had.  It’s like in those two weeks, we try and be the best that we can, by giving, celebrating life, enjoying the company of others, and looking the future in the eye with hope and excitement.

And this past winter break has been…well just…so damn good.  It’s always good, but this one has been really good for me for what seems like the same reasons every year.  Winter break is when I always manage to get so much more closer to the people I love, and really create a memory that I’ll always share with them.  I have fond memories of getting closer to people, and this year was the year when I pretty much spent almost every single day of break doing something with somebody.  Be it just sharing a room with them, killing time at Barnes and Noble, driving around, teaching someone how to drive, watching a movie, watching TV, playing a game, learning a new game, becoming a character, having a deep discussion, sharing a meal, or even having an argument, I did so many things in the span of a month, both big and small.  I don’t even know if I could list them all here, but these are memories I don’t want to soon forget.

Thank you winter break for giving me another wonderful month of just pure fun.  If this is a preview of what 2012 has for me, than I can’t wait to see tomorrow.
